Rocky Mountain National Park
The park at your door.
Estes Park is the eastern gateway to the national park, and the lodge is five minutes from the Beaver Meadows entrance. A timed-entry permit is required for most of the park in peak season (roughly late May through mid-October). Reserve at recreation.gov before your trip.
- Bear Lake corridor: Dream Lake, Emerald Lake, Sky Pond. The postcard hikes (30 min to trailhead)
- Trail Ridge Road: the highest continuous paved road in the U.S., open roughly Memorial Day to mid-October
- Fall River entrance: the quieter gate; wildlife at first light (15 min)
- Moraine Park: the classic elk-watching meadow, spectacular during the fall rut
- Alluvial Fan: an easy walk to a waterfall the kids will remember
Downtown Estes
Five minutes to town.
Elkhorn Avenue is the classic mountain-town main street: the riverwalk, the taffy shops, the breweries, and elk wandering through Bond Park like they own the place (they do).

- Lake Estes: paddleboards, the loop trail, the marina café
